COCONUTS
This is not about the record store. It is about the real live coconuts
that are an important part of life in the Philippines, seeing that the
trees are everywhere. The following shows how people here get a drink
of coconut milk from youngish coconuts.
First, one must climb a coconut tree to access the fruit. There are
said to be other ways of doing this, but climbing a tree seems to be
the default.

Notice how tall the tree is.
Just in case you were not sure that it was a real man climbing the
tree, I have taken a closeup photo.

You can see the same gentleman cutting the coconuts. One of these, in
your lower right, is actually in free fall (above).

The top or side of the coconut is sliced off......

...revealing a cavity filled with coconut milk, and lined with coconut
meat or whatever they call it.

Uncle Berting (Alberto), who did the cutting, shows the easiest way to
access the coconut milk.

There are other ways of course, as shown by this imaginative couple,
who are using straws to drink the coconut milk directly from the
coconut! Well, I'll be!
WHAT YOU WONT SEE ON TOURIST BROCHURES
The following pictures may be shocking to some, and are not for the
weak minded.

A spider shared Junalyn and Peter's room. This exclusive photo
demonstrates the size of the errant boarder.

This handsome fellow (or gracious lady) actually posed for us.
Now if you are thinking of coming to the Philippines........

Don't forget to bring the skin lotion!!!!
