LETTER TO CHRISTOPHER SHAYS ON HIS RECENT TRIP TO THE MIDDLE EAST
September 12, 2008
Dear Mr. Shays:
I am honestly disappointed with the conclusions you have reached after
your trip to the Middle East. I do believe your trip was probably not
necessary.
You yourself have admitted that the US occupation of Iraq was about
oil. I heard you say that in a televised exchange between you and
Charlie Rangel.
We Americans were not informed that the Republican administration was
on a conquest for oil. The Bush administration attempted to justify the
Iraq invasion and occupation on an entirely different set of pretexts,
which turned out to be unfounded, fabricated and/or misleading.
How long do you think people will put up with such a government? I suggest you look at your watch, and check the seconds hand.
Otherwise, Mr. Shays, I would like to thank you for keeping us
informed, which is more than many representatives do for their
constituents. I hope you and your family are well, and I wish you
success in your peaceful endeavors.
Kindest regards,
Peter Duveen
