Who were these two unusual women?
Dorothy was a portrait painter, and won the figure painting prize from
the National Academy of Design in 1932. Lorna was a child prodigy
pianist. In their later
years, the two inhabited a studio, said to have been originally the
apartment of one of the paramours of William Randolph Hearst,
overlooking Bryant Park and the New York Public Library in midtown
Manhattan . Learn about these two unusual women, a photograph of whom
is featured at the Archives of American Art website. Hear a testimony
from an individual who knew them, and be ready for a special
surprise--the unveiling of an important work by Dorothy Drew.
