Peter Duveen, 61, a writer from Hebron, New York, will announce his candidacy tomorrow for the New York State Senate seat currently occupied by Betty Little. Mr. Duveen is not affiliated with any political party, and will run as an independent write-in candidate.

Mr. Duveen's announcement is concurrent with his unveiling of the "GO 40!" campaign (http://www.petersnewyork.com/GO40.html) to voluntarily reduce driving speeds in order to minimize traffic accidents and reduce energy consumption.

As a write-in candidate, Mr. Duveen's name will not appear on the ballot. There appears to be no other announced contender for Betty Little's seat in the current election cycle.

Mr. Duveen will be available for comment on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. at Centennial traffic circle in Glens Falls, the site of weekly demonstrations by local activists.
